Steve’s professional affiliations include memberships in both the Minnesota State Bar Association and the 11th District Bar Association. He received his Bachelor’s Degree, with honors, from Gustavus Adolphus College, Saint Peter, Minnesota, where he was the commencement speaker for his graduating class. He received his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, where he was nominated for a Burton Award for excellence in legal writing. He is admitted to practice before all Minnesota State and Federal Courts.
Mark, a Duluth native, is married with two children. Mark has been and remains active in various community serve organizations, such as the Boy Scouts of America, Boys and Girls Club Foundation, the Miller-Dwan Medical Center Foundation, Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation, Scottish Rite Foundation, Northland Vietnam Veterans Association, and the Dean’s Advisory Committee to the University of Minnesota, Duluth, Medical School. Mark served with the U.S. Army from 1968-1970, and is a Vietnam Veteran. An Eagle Scout, his personal interests beyond his family and Scouting include: hunting; fishing; reading; growing (trying to) Bonsai; woodworking, and blacksmithing.
Steve is a Duluth native, who enjoys reading, running, travelling, and playing the guitar. As an Eagle Scout, he has long held a passion for the outdoors, has climbed to the peak of a 13,000 foot mountain in the Colorado Rockies, has jumped out of an airplane at 13,000 feet in the Swiss Alps, and has recently attempted to take up the art of Fly Fishing. He stays active in the community through the Duluth New Lawyers group and serves on the Marshall School’s Alumni Council. He was Marshall School’s Centennial Founder’s Day speaker in 2004.
